DHI is a label commonly used for an implanter-based hair-placement workflow. It does not replace the donor-collection stage, which may use FUE. At HCT, discuss what DHI means in your proposed treatment, how existing hair will be managed and why that workflow has been recommended for you.

Collection and placement are separate
FUE describes individual donor harvesting. DHI is used in different ways for implantation, including sharp-implanter placement. It is not a third harvesting method.

Request the planned collection method, the type of placement workflow and the roles of the care team. The letters DHI alone do not answer those questions.

The areas being prioritised
Ask the team to describe the intended hairline and treatment boundaries. State your preferred hairstyle and any specific concern about the crown or hair behind the front.
The preparation arrangement
Ask which areas will be trimmed and whether retaining hair length changes the proposal. Request this before making work or travel arrangements.
The people and follow-up
Confirm who assesses you, who is responsible for the procedure and who you contact afterwards. Ask how the written care instructions will be provided in your language.

Donor and recipient hair preparation are separate choices. The unshaven label should specify each area rather than imply that all hair remains untouched.

Scars, infection, bleeding and anaesthetic reactions remain possible. Contact your treating clinic promptly about severe pain or unexpected symptoms.

Suitability comes before a tool preference
Adequate donor hair and the ability to grow hair in the recipient area are key assessment considerations.

No. Ask how grafts will be collected, prepared and placed. A placement label does not mean that the other stages of transplantation disappear.
Do not assume a universal recommendation. Ask how your existing hair, treatment area and shaving preference affect the proposed plan, and what alternatives were considered.
HCT uses Hybrid to describe a combination of placement approaches by area. Ask which area would receive which approach and why, rather than assuming a fixed combination.
You can discuss it as a preference during an initial review. Final eligibility and the treatment plan require the appropriate clinical assessment; photographs are not a confirmed surgical plan.
