Benefit and uncertainty

  1. 01

    An option for selected patients

The American Academy of Dermatology describes PRP among treatments that may help hair loss. Diagnosis matters: a treatment that fits one cause of loss may not fit another.

    AAD: diagnosis and treatment options
  2. 02

    Study results need context

In one randomized trial of 35 people with pattern hair loss, hair density increased in both PRP and saline-treated areas, without a significant difference between them. The authors noted limitations of the split-scalp design. One study cannot establish your likely response.

  3. 03

Ask what improvement would mean for you

Discuss the proposed treatment goal, how progress would be recorded and when the plan would be reconsidered. A named treatment is not a guarantee of visible regrowth.

Care and practical limitations

  1. 01

Using your own blood does not mean no risk

Injection-site soreness or bruising can occur. Bleeding and infection are possible complications. Ask about your individual risks and how a concern would be managed.

  2. 02

Plan reviews rather than a promised finish date

PRP may involve repeat treatment. Ask when progress will be reviewed, what would justify further sessions and what happens if the initial course does not meet the agreed goal.

    AAD: treatment and repeat visits
  3. 03

    Leave with specific care instructions

Confirm washing, hair-product and activity guidance for your appointment. Ask whom to contact promptly about unexpected or worsening symptoms; this page does not provide a personal aftercare schedule.

Clear scope, clear costs

A separate PRP price or session bundle has not been supplied for this page. Request a written quote for the proposed course instead of applying HCT’s hair transplant technique ranges to PRP.

  1. 01

    Confirm what the quote covers

Ask whether the amount is per visit or for a defined course, which assessments are included and how any later sessions would be priced.

  2. 02

    Check any package inclusion explicitly

Do not assume that PRP is included with a transplant. Have the proposed number of sessions, timing and cost stated in your own written treatment proposal.

Start with the right questions

Discuss your hair-loss care plan.

Tell us about your concerns and previous care. Ask for an assessment of whether PRP belongs in your proposed treatment plan.

Suitability, treatment arrangements and pricing are confirmed individually. Results are not guaranteed.
